Make a super effective, inexpensive fly.

Avid steelhead and salmon fishermen lose lots of flies to rocks, logs, and big fish and appreciate an effective, inexpensive fly. Hot Glue Eggs are popular with them because tying eggs with hot glue is fast, and in little time you can fill a fly box with productive flies.

In small sizes, glued eggs work magnificently for trout, especially in turbid or off-colored water. Many anglers who fish tail water fisheries turn to egg patterns when the dam is releasing water. Egg flies are also remarkably effective for timid trout in spring creeks. For many anglers, an egg is their "go to" pattern when the fishing is slow.

Using Hot Glue Sticks

Hot glue is fun and easy to use. All that is necessary is a Mini Glue Gun (also available GLG01), some Hot Glue Sticks, and a small cup of water.

Making eggs with Hot Glue


Position the hook in the vise and apply a bead of glue to the hook shank.	Rotate the vise continuously to evenly distribute glue around the hook shank.	Continue to rotate the vise until the egg has the desired shape.

Dip the egg into cold water to harden the glue.	The egg fly is finished.	You can make an egg cluster fly by repeating this process several times.
