Bug Body Lovers Rejoice!

Our famous Wapsi Foam Bug Bodies are back. A few years ago we discontinued these bodies because it was almost impossible to find the exact EVA foam that was used on the original bug bodies. Although we could have used different foam, anything other than the original would have made a product that wasn't as durable or high floating.

Soft and Durable

Our bug bodies are easy to tie with because they are soft and very flexible. But don't let that fool you; unlike other foam bodies, ours are not easily cut by fly tying thread or after having landed a fish. Our bodies stand up to the roughest conditions.

Great for a variety of uses

Depending upon the shape bug body you choose, you can easily match the general body shape of most terrestrials. The Ant body is very versatile; in addition to representing ants, it makes an excellent extended body for crickets, grasshoppers, and even stoneflies. Use as a shellback on a large dry fly such as a Humpy for extra floatation. The Ant body is also available in a cylindrical quick sight version.

The Beetle body works great not only as a beetle but also as a small foam spider for panfish. One surprising use for the beetle body is as a wiggle lip on streamer imitations. The beetle body will float the streamer on or near the surface and, when the line is stripped, cause the streamer to flutter and wiggle on the surface. If you desire the fly to sink, a small split shot or tungsten bead can be epoxied inside the beetle body.

The Spider body is designed to float extra high and is perfect for holding a stout hook, rubber legs, etc., thus, it is the perfect choice for bass and panfish flies. One neat use for the bodies is for tying Cicada patterns.

Black or White

Historically, black has always been the best selling color for tying terrestrial fly patterns such as ants, crickets and beetles. Tyers who want to tie terrestrials in other colors or make very realistic imitations can use Prismacolor markers on our white bodies. Unlike other foams, our bug bodies will not harden after the ink is applied.
